Why participate in BHOS?

There are few, if any, sexual health and relationship programs for gay couples in the world, let alone in the US. Your participation in research projects (like this one) is important and much needed. Help us determine how well BHOS works to improve communication and decision-making about relationships, health, and HIV/STI prevention and care needs.

BHOS is funded by the National Institutes of Health. The Florida International University and University of Michigan IRBs approved this study (Approval Protocol No. IRB-22-0415, Approval Date: 9/6/2022).

What would my partner and I do in BHOS?

Both will be asked to individually and independently complete 5 surveys in 18 months. Each survey was designed to take a minimum amount of time (eg, 20 minutes).

In the study, you and your partner will also be asked to complete 5 modules covering different topics related to relationships (eg, communication) and health (eg, prevention/care). Both will have 2 weeks to complete each 30-minute module. Some parts of the module you will use individually and other parts you will use with your partner, together, as a couple.

Will there be incentives?

Yes! Once eligible and registered, you and your partner could each receive a total of $215 ($450 per couple) for your time in the project.
